Alexia qualified with a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy in Malta in 2002, and went on to work in Malta in various NHS departments seeing musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, neurological and cardio-respiratory cases. She obtained her Master's degree in Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy from the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2006, and then worked as rehabilitation manager for a private physiotherapy company servicing Honda employees. On returning to Malta for a few years, she worked in a large rehabilitation centre where she dealt with a large clinical case-load of various musculoskeletal conditions, post-operative orthopaedic cases, sports injuries, neurological and cardio-respiratory conditions, spinal injuries, and amputees.
Alexia returned to the UK in 2012 and has since been working in Harley Street London. With 12 years of work experience, predominantly in the musculoskeletal field, and a great deal of ongoing continued professional development, she has a special interest in shoulder and spinal conditions, biomechanical and movement analysis, and clinical Pilates, and in practice carries out thorough physical examination, manual therapy (including joint manipulation), exercise therapy, electrotherapy and acupuncture. Alexia also has a keen interest in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, in which she has a Diploma.
