It has been our absolute pleasure to treat humble, No. 5 in the world tennis player, Stefanos Tsitispas in our clinic!

Stefanos was born 12 August 1998 and is a Greek professional tennis player. He is currently the youngest player ranked in the top 10 by the Association of Tennis Professionals and has a career-high ranking of No. 5 in the world, making him the highest-ranked Greek player in history! Stefanos is known for being the champion at the 2019 ATP Finals, becoming the youngest winner ever of the year-end championships in eighteen years. Since then he has won five singles titles and reached ten finals on the ATP Tour.

Stefanos was born into a tennis family where his mother was a professional on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour and his father was trained as a tennis coach, he was introduced to the sport at just age three and began taking lessons at age six! As a junior, he was ranked No. 1 in the world. He also became the third Greek player, and first Greek male in the Open Era, to win a junior Grand Slam title with a victory in the 2016 Wimbledon boys’ doubles event. Stefanos has trained at the Patrick Mouratoglou academy in France since 2015.

Stefanos won his first ATP match in late 2017 and quickly ascended up the ATP rankings the following year. He reached three tour-level finals in 2018 and won his first title at the Stockholm Open. With his runner-up finish at the Canadian Open, he became the youngest player to defeat four top ten opponents in a single tournament. Since culminating his season with an exhibition title at the Next Gen ATP Finals, Stefanos has become a fixture in the top 10 of the ATP rankings and reached two Grand Slam semi-finals at the 2019 Australian Open and the 2020 French Open.

As most of you already know, it is a passion of ours at ALO Physiotherapy Clinic to treat all major league and minor league athletes to keep them at the peak of their physical fitness and ability, before, during and after their tournaments. Stefanos is currently seeing us for Tecar therapy as we are London’s leading Tecar centre. We were the first Physiotherapy clinic in London to introduce Tecar Therapy to the UK.  It is a highly advanced treatment that derives from Italy and Spain.  Tecar is rarely found in clinics here which makes us proud to be unique experts in using this progressive technology.  The results from this treatment are fast and scientifically proven.

Tecar is an energy technology delivered by physiotherapists that promotes faster functional recovery. Because of this is very popular with athletes like Stefanos and many other patients at ALO Physiotherapy due to its therapeutic benefits.

We have been using Tecar to treat patients many years ensuring the highest levels of knowledge and skill in treating a wide range of conditions.

The key benefits of Tecar are:

  • Accelerates pain reduction in comparison to other electrotherapies such as ultra-sound
  • Accelerates the natural healing mechanisms of the body, thereby reducing recovery time

Tecar energy technology is a high frequency current oscillating between 300 kHz and 1 MHz. It accelerates “the natural regeneration” of organic tissue. Its low intensity means the energy is completely non-invasive and 100% natural for the human body.

Studies conducted over the last thirty years have shown that its therapeutic effects naturally stimulate tissue regeneration and reduce pain.

Tecar is particularly useful for pain relief and anti-inflammatory purposes. It is used to treat acute or chronic conditions in the muscles and joints. The technology helps to break the vicious circle of pain/ inflammation/stiffness, drainage of effusions, improvements in joint mobility and improvement of healing process. Reduction in recovery time, accelerated return to normal activities.

To further Stefanos recovery, we have also been combining his Tecar treatment with medical Pilates to ensure he is able to achieve his current sporting goals.

Using a Pilates reformer machine Reformer Pilates is an intense and dynamic core strengthening exercise. Working the centre of the body using the thighs and glutes to improve flexibility and balance.

It is a form of dynamic stabilisation retraining performed by a qualified physiotherapist. It reconditions the body from the centre/core of the body, not only increasing body strength, but also by improving the functioning of these muscles.  It proves to be an excellent way of treating lower back pain and preventing relapse. By strengthening the muscles that support the entire frame of the body, it also helps other conditions such as neck pain, knee pain and poor posture.  It is a body conditioning exercise programme that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen, scapular region and entire spine, improving overall core stability and posture which is essential for all sports people.

If you are a professional or non- professional athlete or a sports person, we can help you to achieve your goals and help you reach your bodies optimum fitness level… keeping you in the height of your capability and allowing you to always reach your full potential.
